feedback loop – A feedback loop is the process in which part of the output of a system is returned to its input in order to regulate its further output and therefore forms a closed circuit.


fermentation – During fermentation, yeast is added to a food to produce alcohol. Alcohol is a good preservative because it kills bacteria.


fertilizer – A natural or artificial substance added to the soil to make it more fertile or productive.


financial – (commercial, economic, business, monetary) Concerning money and finances.


financial institution – An established organization whose work concerns money and finances.


finished product – A product that has finished being processed and is now ready for sale or use.


fleet – A term used to describe the number and type of transportation passenger vehicles an agency operates.


fluorescent – A relatively cool, energy-efficient artificial light source. Produced by gas discharge in a low-pressure tube.


freezing – Involves the storage of foods at temperatures below -2 degrees Celsius, but usually at least -18 degrees Celsius.


fungi – An organisms that lack chlorophyll. It includes molds, rusts, mildews, smuts, mushrooms and yeast.


furnace – A furnace is a device for heating air or any other fluid. It is an enclosed chamber in which heat is produced to heat buildings, destroy refuse, smelt or refine ores, etc.
